I've got it at AU-58. from what I see online, many AU and UNC coins have very scuffed reverse fields which this one remarkably has the opposite of. this coin is definitely a nice example and since I have little experience with gold, perhaps I'm being harsh on it? I am planning to send this out along with a 1913 $5 and 1911 C sovereign soon. we will see what happens..

also, what would some collectors more familiar with these coins expect to pay for such an example?

This type is on my most wanted list. $2 was a lot of money in Newfoundland in 1888.

of course you may:),ICCS. for many coins I would prefer a hard slab from a US TPG but they are more expensive, plus they are less respected here it seems. also PCGS seems to be more generous when grading the gold $5 and $10 examples.
