Hi Smartscoops I can see that there is a mint mark on the coin ,but I cant make it out , please what is the mint mark? this coin has a very significant price variation for the (D)and (S) mint coin !!! The pics are very small and a little dark to grade from with any degree of certianty, but as a guess with whats there , MS-60 possibly and most probly a 62 since Iam notorious for under grading gold coins !! Really need the mint mark !! Welcome to the Forum !! Rick Image: 200511311330_scan0002~2.jpg31.77 KB I played with your scans a bit larger and lighter !! Image: 200511311349_scan0003~4.jpg36.4 KB

That is exactly the mint I was hoping for for you , that is a very very valuble coin !!
I have done a little doctoring of the scans see what you think !!!
I did however revise my grade, when I was working on the pics I took a good look, its very nice and scans do not do a coin justice in most cases, but the wing feathers and legs looks a little flat to hold the grade I gave it before !

2006 RedBook, not exactly the best price guide but as an example it will work, For an authenticated piece,,1911-D with a bold mint mark the prices range from MS-60 $7500.00 to an MS-64 $30,000 this is what I mean by very valueble !!! Rick

I played with the pics a bit and I'm leaning toward an AU grade. I can't be more specific without sharper images. It is a beautiful coin. I like the incuse design on these.

Oke thanks for your reply SusanLynn. What's the meaning of incuse? My English is not so good. Greetings Alexander

Alex If you are scanning the coin set your scanner at 300 dpi color and then jpeg the picture at 75% quality setting and you should get a picture like mine Then I could help you further
And please scan all heads with the light coming from above the head and not from below the head the coins will look a lot better

Actually, I made an error. The Indian design on the quarter eagles is incuse (meaning that the design is etched into the metal rather than being raised). The design on the eagles is raised, so your coin is not incuse.
