Although I have no interest in either of the Big Coin series because the larger size doesn't align with anything in my circulation collection, if I were to chose just one it would definately be the coloured 50c, as a sort of tribute to the 50c. It's the only one that represents the actual true colours of Canada's Coat of Arms. All the rest are simply an artist's creation with colour or gold plate. Side by side, these two big coin collections are an awesome "delight" to view in their elegant wooden cases. Everyone says "WOW" and they are something that will be passed down, hopefully for generations to come.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess my blue eyes are quite thrilled to be able to look upon these beautiful depictions of our Canadian heritage.

In my opinion, big quantity is reducing value Captain America Civil War after Big 50c coin? You have a budget - this is great, use it for the gems of the NCLT and not for gimmicks

Do not be upset that I have a budget. I worked hard for this budget. If I want to throw it away on gambling, I will. If I want to donate to charity, I will. If I want to buy gimmicky coins, I will. If I want to give my opinion, I will. If I want to buy what ever I can afford to buy, I will.
To each their own:)))))))))

Respect, I have.
As @commems says: "gems are in the eye of the beholder"
Remember this. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift and that is why it is called the present. Enjoy. We are here for only a short time and nothing comes with us.
Don't rain on others' parade:))))))

It's OK
What Commems called "gems are in the eye of the beholder", you justified by having ability to afford.

I suppose one advantage of being "on the other side of the hill" is that the vast majority of trade mark NCLT Items advertised by RCM are of no interest to me whatsoever, whether I could afford them or not. Frozen just reminds me of how I often feel in winter.

Another great discussion with my favorite posters. Many valid points of view raised. I some new releases on the Canada Day coin show. The concave basketball coin looked nice, however, not nice enough for the price. I do like the 13 coin Canada 150th anniversary set. I will order a set for a keep sake, the box is fantastic. I do have the other sets, purchased off ebay, since I started collecting in 2012 canada day coin show. I took a break since Mar. I'm saving money for the coins that will celebrate the 150th anniversary. My kid eats $300 a month in groceries and has nothing to show for it. I will spend less monthly on on coins and will have them to pass down to his kids. Its all a matter of perspective, he spent $18 on pie making ingredients yesterday, and today the pie plate is empty. He loves cooking and food!! I see it as a neccesity and would rather do it as cheaply as possible. So 2 different people and 2 seperate approaches to living. I believe coin collecting is much the same adventure. However, we should be aware who has the best prices, so more bang for the buck.

Sounds like one nice pie. Strawberry rhubarb might be worth trading a couple coins for. Although coins are sometimes bought to be left for future generations, those same future generations greatly reduce the number of coins bought. I Wish I could leave the $1,000,000 face coin the RCM made for my kid.
