I'd have to dig back to find the source (few months or more), but the link for IDB stated up to 1mm by 1mm or the total area circumference (I forget exactly) were considered die chips. 4mm and up were considered IDB. Everything in between was considered middle ground.

Something like that. Thanks, Doug.

Yeah I think it would be boarder line IDB.

You all have definitely been keeping him busy. I'll wait a couple of days because I have a few more interesting Die cracks to post so then I will just send JC 1 email with all the links and he can get to them when he has a chance.

Thanks for checking it out.

Cuds on Coins defines two types of IDB's. Under Free Standing is what I was trying to remember. Thanks, Doug.

Thanks Doug, I don't have a caliper so I usually go by the IDB's that JC has already listed to compare to. I'm thinking mine is not fat enough. I'll send him an email about it in a day or so, then he usually writes in on the post with his decision.

Hey JC if you are still online here - what do you think about this one?

Thanks

I think if it were about a third larger, it would qualify as an IDB (4 sq mm). So I think it's a chip.

I'll add it to my "to do bucket". I'm working on a presentation of a Henning no "P" 1944 Jefferson nickel for this week's meeting of the Colorado Springs Numismatic Society.

Dustin, he'll probably have it on a PowerPoint so you can ask him if he can email to you.

No Power Point, it's a hands on exhibit.

Check out this old CCF thread ( 9/19/2009 ) if you want more info on the Henning Nickels.

I'm going to say this is a little small "IMO". Keep looking for a LDS with a larger break.

No problem here - wasn't sure if would qualify for an IDB or not.
