I have planned to sell them off, but have not gotten around to it. They are now stored loose in mason jars with a descant packet for now. These are all unwanted wheat cents and world coins.

I don't often have duplicates or other unwanted coins.
I have about 5-6 right now.
They all have enough value to merit listing on ebay.
And some I take to the Baltimore Whitman show (next weekend, I believe) and see if I can find an interested dealer.

I have a favorite dealer I buy from at the 3 or 4 coin shows I attend each year.
When I do get something I already have or upgrade I usually take him some coins to use as trade or partial payment for the new coins I pick out from his offerings.
I have thought about listing a few on ebay but as of yet I have not. Maybe someday I will.

I don't have a lot of duplicates, but have found myself buying BU Franklins I already have. When I do I just keep the nicer in the album and hold on to the rest for trade or a 2nd set.

Had a similar problem a couple of years ago with duplicate world coins of little value. Took about 80, put them in 2 x 2's, labeled them and gave them to a Social Studies teacher at an Inner City school. They were gratefully received and were a hit with the youngsters. Have been advised by the teacher that none have gone astray!

good responses and ideas everyone! I have just noticed that when ii hunt for the coins to be retrieved in circulation I end up with a lot being the same years ans what not. I mean one can only have so many 1999 and 2001 kennedy halfs lol.

we do not have children and our animals could care less, so maybe ill look into the occasional ebay sale. Nothing I have duplicates of are worth a tremendous amount so...

i had been recommended in another thread here that I should go out and find a quality coin shop around locally and go over what I have.

would duplicates be subject for putting in flips ya think or just leave em loose?

I've always had a problem with duplicates. Many years ago I started putting all my duplicates in 2x2's, then in a box. When there accumulated enough, I started a new Album. Been doing this so long, I've now accumulated 10 Lincoln Albums, 12 Mercury dime Album and on and on and on and on. Well over 100 Albums and mostly all full.

I try not to keep duplicates. It's not too hard to do since I'm mostly a circulation collector. Most of what I find I'll toss back in the wild, even old wheaties and sometimes Buffalo nickels. I pass them on, so maybe someone else will find them and get interested in the hobby.

That's a solid way to look at them. I myself enjoy the hunt within the circulation coins too...

So far I've just hoarded them. Perhaps eventually I'll have enough for a Scrooge McDuck style pile of coins.

I have used duplicates to fill out the blank holes a the end of Dansco albums. I have kept others in a miscellaneous album. One time I traded the duplicate 90% and 40% silver half dollars (roll finds) for the Franklin half dollars I needed to finish out set. However, I have never sold any of my coins. Any other duplicates are just kept with the quasi-hoard.
