Oops, let me go "check" for a dot :P that would have been a nice find! None the less, I believe this coin is still a nice pick

Quote: The fingerprint wouldn't affect the grade In my opinion, it should. That said, I would grade this coin MS-64 Red & Brown, but ICCS probably graded it MS-65 Red

ICCS grades technically correct? I bought this to resubmit to be honest lol. R&b attrribution is correct. But I believe it is over 70% red would that not make it certified red? How does someone get the designation red, or it has to be completely red?

75% or higher gets RED from ICCS and CCCS 95% or higher gets RED from PCGS
I cannot speak for NGC... I have never sent them coins.

If ICCS graded this coin Red & Brown, then it is unlikely they graded it higher than MS-63... ICCS does technical grading, but it is inconsistent compared to silver coins and toning. It is pretty rare to see anything above MS-63 with Red-Brown, Brown or Lustrous Brown colour assignments.

Would you call this coin red? I mean you can still see all the luster where the finger print is etc.

Nope... red means red to me... that is why I use PCGS for my bronze coins.

But if PCGS graded this coin, would it lose a grade or two due to the finger print smudge? I am not too familiar with PCGS grading

Hard question to answer... You never told us what the ICCS grade was...

That is an old certificate, so, most likely it should grade higher. ICCS back then took their grading of coins very seriously.

Lol the amount of old certs I have is pretty comical. About half my certified coins are in them :)

It's definitely ICCS 'RED' if graded today.
Probably an ms64 too.
