I used my phone for this and I typically avoid using the flash. In this case, no flash, overhead CFL Daylight lighting and no editing other than cropping.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm still trying to get a handle on the Details part.

Yeah, I was just curious about the flash because sometimes using bright flash can make a coin look cleaned.

VF details with some cleaning and minor corrosion. Unfortunately the coin is not worth much. The 1883 No Cents Nickel was saved in quantity, and AUs and even Mint State pieces are very common.
The coin does bring a premium in Proof because it's a one year type with a resulting limited mintage.

Late to the grading party ... but offer my concurrence with the majority opinions. The significant scratch on the reverse is enough IMHO to relegate this coin to 'details' status ... yet alone the likely cleaning. Quote: I'm still trying to get a handle on the Details part. The concept is not that tough ... any level of significant damage to the coin other than honest circulation wear is subject to a 'details' verdict ... cleaning, graffiti, rim bruises, big scratches, etc. The application of the concept is where many of us have an issue ... mostly on old cleaning. Is it bad enough to render a 'details' verdict? Thats where experience comes into play. Your coin is a no-brainer VF state 'details' coin. David
