Anti Trails are incuse on the coin, raised on the die. They can be found in different offset directions. Regular Trails are raised on the coin, incused on the die.

Very well and equal shapes receiving equal lighting show opposite lights and darks when one is incuse and the other is raised.

This is the Anti Trails error. The die had raised trails because the aforementioned scrape occurred earlier in the die making process. The hub had recessed trails. It's called an Anti Trail Die because it's the opposite of a Trail Die. The Coin has incuse trails. The pictures don't do it justice.

Yes. They are the same pictures that were on ebay. For some reason they appear differently depending on which site I post them. I have noticed that with all my pics.

Well, I guess you lean something new every day. I have seen coins like some of those at traildies.com but thought it was die wear and sent them on as spendable. I will not do that again. Cool coin and good info to learn. Thanks to all, I now have a pile to go through again. Weeeee!

I have no idea Dustin, they are close enough though.
Glad you enjoyed it Jovian. I like them a lot too. 2013-P nickels is a good place to start.

I'm leaning more on the OP's coin as die scratches. I noted the line above the 'CE' on cents in the fields in the same direction. They is nothing there to be an extension for trails in that area. So I question that any of these are trails?

Dustin don't read this. Thanks Coop, for looking. I don't have an option of looking at the coin, as I have packaged it up as a surprise for Dustin. Don't tell him. I seemed to remember that line was damage. I had taken some pictures that I didn't use. This coin is very similar to the 004. I believe it is another die though. The line above cents is either damage or a die scratch. These pictures show it better and reveal it is on a slightly different angle than the trails.

Note that was the image to use first. It is trails. Note on the closer image you can see it is a coin hit on that area. From the image above it looks raised. The light hitting the lower edge of that area make it look raised.

Yep, duly noted, Thanks Coop. Young Dustin will be pleasantly surprised.
