Yeah, that mark was a concern. It shows through at 5:45 in the reverse. Doesn't look like a repaired hole, but I couldn't figure out what it was. With such a large discount, I was willing to accept some problems.

BTW that ebay seller(Centsles)owns NNC and has a long and questionable reputation in the coin community. Check out the archives for threads on this seller.

Yeah, I read some of them. Rumored that he or she may be behind NNC.

It looks very close to AU and would be worth at least double what it brought in a legitimate problem-free holder. You need to assume it has filed rims, tooling and/or other problems or Centsles wouldn't have put it in their own holder to sell.

In this case the price was (probably) low enough the buyer didn't get hurt too bad unless the Final Value and Paypal fees are actually paid. You see the winning bidder has 63% of their bids with centles in the last month so was probably a shill.

So this is the notorious Centsles. I've read many threads about him but users misspell his user name.

Almost anything in a NNC slab, or sold by this seller, is garbage and should be avoided like the plague. There are a VERY few exceptions.

His main "specialty" is buying coins which have been details graded or would be details graded, cracking them out, "doctoring" them, and putting them into his basement NNC slabs as problem-free coins graded about 10-30+ points higher than the real thing. 100% scam artist, liar, and fraudulent seller with a 10+ year history of victimizing the uneducated.

Buying anything in a NNC holder is a ticket to disappointment and financial loss. The "lucky" bidder won 1799 dollar that has been tooled, cleaned, and has a (poorly) repaired hole.

That single seller does more harm to the collecting fraternity than any other two of the next worst sellers combined.

When you can tell it's their coin just by looking at a single photo, you know they have all been through his "upgrade" process.

Holed and repaired. You would have been disappointed in this coin forever after.
