It certainly has the look of a cast counterfeit most notably the weak details both obverse and reverse. I hope you have an exit clause for this if it's yours and a recent purchase.

It doesn't appear to be genuine.

Yes this is my coin, it came as part of a lot on ebay. Thank you for your opinions, I tested it and it is an off-metal fake with low conductivity (probably lead-tin alloy). I originally thought it was only cleaned from the photos online, but I was wrong

From what I'm guessing, you bought it a while ago and can't return it?

I recently bought the lot but it's not preferable/feasible to return the whole thing on account of one fake coin so I asked for a partial refund instead.

Make sure to get about $50 back. That is a better date.

If a few of you experts could point out a few 'markers' I would appreciate it.

Seller agreed to give partial refund since the coin is fake, but is also requesting I send them back the coin (they are covering shipping) since they are giving me money back for it. I don't feel comfortable sending a fake coin like this through the mail and to be honest it's a bit of a hassle.

What would you do in this scenario?

Can't say I blame him, whatever he's up to. I wonder what ebay's policy is on a situation like this - I suppose that you have to return it if you want your money back.

Tell the seller you'll need to mark it with the word "copy" to legally send this coin through the mail.

The dollar just has no appeal. Dull, washed out, rims and denticles look funny. I would question it's genuiness. Liberty's ear should have more detail, it's very mushy. Don't think it's real.

Thanks for the advice dave700x, I told the seller that and they no longer wanted it back and reluctantly gave me the refund I requested.
