Quote: I asked the guy for more pictures and oddly he said no. He has just two pictures of one of the coins. He said his camera doesn't provide enough details of the coins. Seems fishy. Quote: I should add this is a craigslist deal. Run away

My experience when I was dealer was that Walking Liberty half dollar third party grading was inconsistent. There were coins in MS-64 holders that were better than coins in MS-65 holders. It seemed to me that when there was a meltdown in the bids for MS-65 coins, that my observation explained it. Some of the S-Mint coins were quick sellers for me when I could buy examples that were nicely struck with good eye appeal, in MS-63 and 64. If he is offering a group of high end for the grade coins, it could be an attractive offer. If he is offering low end for the grade, it isn't. Although PCGS slabs with the old green label tend to be nice, not all of them were. The Gray Sheet bid on this set in MS-64 is $1,350.

With no pictures, forget it! Nowadays you can take pictures that are decent with even your own phone!

Waste of time to pursue this given the risks. These are often found in ms66 and ms67. 64's are common. If they're premium 64's it may be a good deal but still probably not great. Why take the risk of danger.

Agree, not a real bargain and there are too many unknowns.

I should update that he never responded to my following reply. Quote: Ok I understand. Let me know if you change your mind. I don't need high quality photos. Just an aerial view of the obverses grouped in quantities of 4-6 with a cell phone camera will do. I just need the PCGS numbers to verify.

I'm sure your not hoping to get Stabbed and Slabbed. The way people are now I'd be extremely cautious especially with Craig's List!

If I were trying to sell $1,400 in coins on Craigslist I would post more than just a couple of pictures. At least 1 group shot.
Especially if I had an interested buyer that requested them.

I have fake cashiers checks from my craigs list. one is $3659. and $2359. My stuff was for less money and the buyer wanted me to cash them and mail the balance and item to them and keep extra cash for my trouble.
My bank mgr. looked the checks up and they were washed and reprinted. Also a Tacoma area collector bought some silver bullion for $2500. that were silver plated fakes.
The Tacoma PD arrested a gang with lots of Silver US and Canadian Maple Leaf and gold proof coins, jewelry etc and are trying to locate the owners. I wouldn't touch anything especially coins or valuable unless in person you saw or were able to see before verifying it was real. I have bought several items but things I knew were real.

Oh, heck NO! That is a lot of money for the most common dates in the series. These are the coins that you can on ebay. If I were going to buy those dates I would focus just on the 1946-47D because these coins have pretty low mintage. The LWH dollars before 1934 have many dates with mintage under 2 million and 7 below a million. To me the 16-S is a coin with low mintage and yet the price for a coin in AU is around 700-800 bucks. A coin from 1916 you can get in AU condition for less than a thousand bucks is a find and possible sleeper just from the price. The 19-D and 19-S both cost more in the same condition and have higher mintage.

The listing expired. I seriously think that was as setup for robbery. I'll post if it turns back up.
