1942 Walking Liberty Half Bought Today Help!

Wish we had bigger blown up photos to look at . From the little that I see it doesn't look that bad . Like Druu says, it depends on what you paid for it . Don't be surprised if other members advise you to crack it out and just put it in a 2x2 or Album .

I figured it may be to high but wanted to take a chance.

You didn't lose an arm or leg over it so if you like it that's all that matters. If you don't, you could always resell it.

If you can return it, I would. It's not worth much over melt to me -- granted, it's in better condition than many "junk bin" Walkers, it's still a details coin. If you were unscrupulous, you could crack it out and try to sell it as a "toned" coin.

Might I make a suggestion to you? Aim to gain a bit more knowledge before you aim to acquire coins. Maybe I'm cheap, maybe I'm smart -- but nothing I buy is worth less than what I pay. A little bit of cherrypicking is fun, and the folks here will definitely have some good advice for you. I don't mean to be patronizing, but I see you getting burned on the "dirt cheap" "Morgans" as well. If it's too good to be true, it often is.

The holder says 'details' due to questionable color, but it looks like a nice coin. I have some similarly toned coins that spent their life in little 2x2 yellow envelopes, and I know that those are toned naturally. Sometimes (not always) it can be very difficult to distinguish natural vs. artificial toning. To me, this one looks ok, though perhaps I can't see something. All that said, you overpaid for this coin being in a details holder, but the price might be ok if you saw this coin raw at a coin show and you liked the toning.

As the trite cliche says, "Buy the book before you buy the coin."

My opinion...if you like it, that's all that matters.
