Thanks for linking my photos and finding that site. That was helpful. I guess there's not a huge following for these silver bullion coins since there seems to be so little information on this variety. I might end up sending this to NGC for attribution

IMO - there are too many Libertad collectors for the extremely low mintage of many key dates. It's always going to be a battle between patience and opportunity.
I have a 1 oz 1987 Libertad NGC PF69 Missing Feathers. I prefer the feathers!
Looks like NGC has 25 graded PF69 and none better. So far....

I didn't think this old thread would get resurrected. I would love it if you could post a photo of your NGC graded missing feathers Libertad!

Hi everyone, My understanding is that there are actually THREE of the 1987 proof "varieties." The first is the one on the left with lots of feather details. The second is the one on the right that is missing the feather details. The third is actually missing the feathers between her left arm (viewer's right) and body. I have an image I can share...hopefully this works.

Thanks for the info, @toddler81. There doesn't seem to be much documentation about this variety, or other Libertad varieties for that matter! It looks like mine is missing some feather detail on both wings, as well as the area between body and left arm. Still not sure how common this is.

Unfortunately I don't think there is much documentation on the varieties. I guess the best place might be to look at NGC's registry sets and see what they list. I know they have given designations to two different 1988 double die varieties. One is obvious because you can see two separate dots in the fineness...the other is less obvious because you can't see two dots. I try to keep the wikipedia page updated...I'm actually going to work on it a bit now.

Toddler81, I'm thinking the same thing as well. Sometimes, these varieties don't get enough documentation, which sometimes explains why you can't find much information on some varieties.

Hello all, I'm a newb here but have been a collector of libertads for many years, I've submitted 2 missing feather details 2 NGC and both came back with the variety in PF69UCAM... I'm 99% sure the coin in the second photo would be attributed with the variety if submitted
I have pics of one of the coins and I'm trying to upload it but I'm not having much luck. The plain edge variety is the tough one... many are missing most of the edge lettering but I have not had one yet that was missing enough to be a plain edge.
I also have graded examples of the 82DD, 83DD MS, 87DD and 88 DDR2 that I can also share pics of when I figure out this picture situation .

Thanks for posting this. I would love to see the pictures you have once you figure out how to upload photos. Nice to see another lover of Libertads!

Let's hope this works... this is a really cropped version of one of my coins If I can link to imgur I will try that route as the 300kb limit is making me cut to much off to show the slab

Quote: If I can link to imgur I will try that route Sorry, we do not allow that site to be linked. Quote: as the 300kb limit is making me cut to much off to show the slab Have you tried the Free Image Optimizer? You should be able to keep the image resolution high while reducing the image size. Also, if you use Windows I recommend Paint.net for something with more options.

@PlataPura, thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for, it's almost identical to the one I have. I'll probably send mine in to NGC for attribution at some point.

I think the problem with pictures I'm having may be I'm because using IOS mobile... I will do a photo dump onto my windows laptop in the next day or 2 and then give that a whirl and see what happens... Maybe I'm just internet challenges but I will figure it out once I get it on something bigger than a 4" screen
