I wish this didn't have the staining, but I found the vignette interesting and it's an early example of the work of Jeffries Banknote Co. when they were just getting started in the 1920s.

Here's a neat one -- a stock certificate for the company that printed it: American Bank Note Co. This one is from 1963, when the security printing industry was in a design slump. You'd think the company would want to show off the best of its abilities, but this design is kind of lackluster.

Two oddball additions today! First, a certificate from the Standard Steel Propeller Company (as opposed to Sub-Standard). I presume these were boat propellers.

Then there's this one from the Thermatomic Corporation. This is the first time I've seen "atomic" as part of a company name -- especially not in 1928, way before nuclear fission was discovered. The machinery sure looks interesting, though. I've also never seen sections crossed out like this. They converted a certificate for "less than 100 shares" into a 1000 shares -- beyond the range of the punch-out counter, so they cross that out, too.

With some help from members of another forum, I think we've determined that the Thermatomic Corp. was involved in petroleum distillation. The industrial machinery depicted ties into the refining process.

I've got a collection of single shares issued to myself and family members. Filled a wall in the office with them. Never gone beyond to collect cancelled certificates. Not sure where to find them. A few of our stocks have died (General Motors) merged (Wendy's International) or been reorganized and delisted (Dow Jones).

@JadeDragon - There's not much you can do if a company goes under, but often mergers still leave you with stock certificates that have instrinsic value. You may have to submit them to the new company to exchange for current certificates.

Here's a very nice vignette designed by Alonzo Foringer on an Alco Products stock (they manufactured roofing products).

This topic has become kind of my catch-all for stocks that don't fit in any particular category. Here are some miscellaneous ones that I picked up during the last couple years.
