A vote for the proof Star Spangled Banner. Of course mine would be a Jefferson.

I would suggest any one of the following:
1. 1987 US Constitution: It's an iconic document that has been a model for constitutions in multiple countries around the world.
2. 1994 US Capitol: The iconic Capitol dome recognized throughout the world as the home of the US Congress.
3. 2012 Star-Spangled Banner: A symbol that is uniquely identified with the US.

How about the 50th Anniversary of WWII dollar (1993)? EDIT: Crap someone beat me too it :P The Vietnam Veterans Memorial (1994) and POW Museum (1994) coins are nice as well as the USMC 230th Anniversary dollar (2005) Digging a bit deeper in my Red Book, that Medal of Honor silver dollar (2011) is nice as well. Also the Korean War $1 (1991) is pretty nice as well.

I'm really glad a few others have mentioned this one already. It is a favorite of mine, in fact I keep a specimen as a daily pocket piece. Iconic imagery for sure. I think this one matches your criteria perfectly!

Quote: Come on, the 2012 Star Spangled Banner commemorative is perfect for this purpose. The above statement is the correct answer. I mean, look at it!

It is a good looking coin. There are certainly many coins which fit the bill. In the end I chose the Ike because we all know I like Ike.

Out of those last two I think I may actually be leaning more towards the Constitution one... I can't really explain it, but the SSB dollar looks too... "new" whereas the Constitution reminds me more of the classic commemorative dollars (which I love). Also a quick look up online shows the Constitution is a little cheaper than the SSB dollar, which is always a plus as well.

I understand what you are saying and must say that I do agree. You should always choose what best appeals to you.

Mintages were HUGE on that one Mister Kairu! I know many sell on ebay for under $20. I really think it is an underappreciated issue in the modern commemorative series. Glad you like it too.

Quote: - "Overall America" themed (I know they all are, but one that would depict overall America if shown to someone from another country) Based on this, and speaking as a foreigner, I'd say the 2012 SSB or 1987 Constitution. My personal favourite would be the 1987 Constitution - but it may not be as instantly recognisable as Old Glory, especially if someone doesn't read English.
