 This is actually rather low grade for one of these coins. They were saved in quantity in AU and "slider Unc." I have a worn one with some golden color still visible in the letters. It was one of the first coins I even collected when I was in the 6th grade. My father bought it for me at the Gimbels store in New York as one of those "ten Liberty nickels, dates of our choice" deals. |

Right - handled and resold many of these over 40 years, but hardly remember any below AU. Somehow the fire must have spread at the time about the lack of a denomination on the coin - the hoarding was surely not just a first-year-of-issue thing.
