Looks squished and dragged possibly at the 8 o'clock(corresponding 11o'clock reverse), just PMD, nothing more

Any chance of it being a tapered planchet? Or maybe grease on both sides?

Thanks for the ideas, John. I will weigh it later today. If it is tapered, it ought to be very slightly on the light side, I think.

I have been thinking damage, but cannot imagine how. So it has been nagging at me. I have also been thinking along the lines of some kind of clip, but haven't been ab;e to make sense of that either.

Weight is 2.87 g.

Now I am leaning towards John's suggestion of a tapered planchet.

Any other ideas?

I showed this to another forum. Their consensus is that it is a minor clipped planchet. I am having a hard time visualizing that, but those who are saying so are quite knowledgeable.

Minor incomplete planchet was my first thought as well. For a very small clip, the planchet metal will expand enough so that the only visible sign is weak area on the rim instead of an obvious clip.

An overlay confirms that if the missing/thinned planchet could be a planchet issue, the location on both sides are in the correct spot.

Thanks, Coop - it did not occur to me to do an overlay, but I did make this examination in hand and found it to be so.

Sometimes extra eye and extra brains think of something someone else never though. It is a community effort by other members of your coin family.

Yes, you might say it's a Coin Community Family!
Since I came in late on this one, I will supply the extra ears.

Could someone tell me where I can learn how to do these wonderful overlays I keep seeing here in the forum? Is there a video somewhere that teaches this? Do I need special editing software? Thanks everyone :)

Some overlays are available online:

If you want to do your own, most photo management programs give that ability. I use an antique (!) software called Microsoft Picture It. It is probably available for free download online.
