I think there are some books for each of the series of them, like the Lincoln Cent, the Flying Eagle cent, and the Indian Head cent, not to mention all the Large cent books and Half Cent books but I am guessing you are talking about the Lincoln Cent since you didn't say one of the others and "the complete guide to Lincoln Cents" would probably be the one I would pick but there may be a better one out there others use. Here is a link to some of the Lincoln Cent books that are available (there may be more, I don't know) http://www.centercoin.com/coin_supp...oin_book.htm

I am sure some others that actually collect the series has a few other books they use and I would wait until they chime in with their best books before I went and bought any of them

I would recommend "The Complete Guide to Lincoln Cents" by David W. Lange. This book nicely covers the Wheat and Memorial series.

I have "A guide book of Lincoln Cents" published by Whitman, written by Q. David Bowers.

So much info on each and every year, I cant imagine needing anything else.

I've got to get that one by Whitman too. I've got both editions of coppercoins books but not enough difference to not just buy just one edition. I've seen other books on Lincoln Cents at coin shows but forget the names.
And as to the US Penny. There are possibly 10 or more songs in the US that use the word PENNY. Try singing CENTS from Heaven. Recently on a TV show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" the question was asked how many PENNIES are in a dollar. NOT how many cents. There are 300,000,000 people in the USA and I'd venture to say almost all say PENNIES.

G'day,
"I used to drive my wife nuts correcting her. ..."
brave man, jbuck !

"Now I have her correcting people!"
And, your persistence has retrieved one soul from the path of error: well done.

The point is not lost on Australians, because we converted from pennies to cents in 1966, and the terms are non-interchangeable here.

A noble cause, however I would agree that popular speech favors penny for some reason. Who says "a cent for your thoughts?" Penny has a nicer "ring".

If somebody attempts to correct me, I'll smack them with a sock full of pennies...I mean cents! Only in jest, of course!

Thanks! She is actually a very patient and understanding woman! We can talk about anything and feel assured that neither is belittling the other; just helping to educate each other! She tolerates my ramblings, many of them trivial and insignificant. Man, I love that girl!

I hope nobody does! According to this link, that phrase pre-dates our cents!

Cannot argue with that. I usually take issue when it is used in the wrong US Monetary context, but don't think twice when someone references it in songs or phrases.

Jbuck- You are really determined about this, aren't you?

Btw, I checked on your prize, and as far as I can tell...it's on its way, hopefully arriving soon! Unbelievably, the PO constantly makes mistakes here on postage, so a "postage due" card may show up--sorry if that happens!

Is "determined" the politically correct way to say "obsessed"?

If I get a PD card, I won't complain... that just adds to its story! "I acquired this coin, but it had to travel far and face many trials to find me!"
