Massive. Another one of those ancient Egyptian hockey pucks.

If you can make out the monogram we might be able to pin point the mint.

I was told by the seller it was a coin from the Alexandria Mint in Egypt.
Unless there are multiple mints in one city?, then we have to go more in depth.

There were a few different mints indicated by different marks. Your coin from the size and weight appears to be a Tetrobol from the Plain series 4 from Alexandria. This series will have the following marks:

No mark - Svornos 1172
L - Svoronos 1166
E (var)- Svornos 974, most common
A no reference
C no reference

Most of the ones I have are E, I do have one C.

E (Epsilon) is the most common mark, I can't tell from the picture.

Awesome pick-ups! I'm especially a fan of that Hormizd II. The "Ahura Mazda in the fire" theme has always been fascinating to me.

Cool! And they don't look like slugs, or, er, hockey pucks.

I'm not an ancients collector, but you found some that actually look like coins.

Good job, young man.

Thanks Parklane64. I was lucky to find a pretty well struck coin on a nice circular flan.
