I recently got this coin graded by NGC and it got xf cleaned. I think it is a harsh grade considering the patina

I'd grade it EF-45. Surprised it got a details grade, I don't even see a sign of cleaning from the pics.

I like the coin, seems to me, they maybe should have considered it market acceptable

That's the crapshoot that is TPG. Was it lightly cleaned at one time? It probably was but jeez louise there's 10x worse in problem-free holders.

I honestly see no signs of cleaning, which is why I gave it a go at NGC. I'm fine with the whole market acceptable cleaning thing as long as there is consistency. I've seen a lot worse in straight slabs... will post another clear pic when it is in hand again

We would all appreciate that. This seems unjust from what we have seen.

There has been no consistency at NGC as of late. I too have received coins back that have left me scratching my head.

NO way that's ever been cleaned. Really nice original surfaces, I love it.

I suppose there's that small area under the eagle's left (facing) wing, but that hardly seems sufficient to warrant a "cleaned" qualifier.

Easy XF-45. Would be a 50 if not for the strike weakness. Cleaned? Not seeing that.

Wow, from the pics it looks original and XF40-45, with the obvious strike weakness on reverse noted.

Beautiful coin.

SMH, maybe submissions are down at NGC and think you'll resubmit - job security, you know
