53 is easy. The luster halo in tight spaces hints at a dip, but it really needs a tilt back and forth to see where the luster stops and starts.
Regardless, I like it and the price was quite reasonable. Congratulations.

I think it makes AU50 and maybe 53. The good price compensates for muted luster from (likely) a few dips. I'd be a bit concerned about the greenish contamination around the pole/cap. Some acetone might be helpful. Here's a PC53 for comparison.  |

There may be some surface pitting on the obverse around the cap and pole. If the junk comes off with acetone and no surface damage then AU-53. Otherwise it's a "details" coin.

First, Thanks for all the opinions! I see what you guys are saying. Pics would've been better once I took it out of the holder, to me it just seems like gunk around the rim/denticles. Also I have a few questions about the acetone: What kind of container do I use? How do I put it in/take it out? Can I use a q-tip instead to get the dirt off? What do I rinse it with after the acetone bath? Thanks. |

AU-53, but I'm concerned about it being a details coin as well.

The disturbance at K1-K2 does not look like gunk, and in fact there is a greenish area to the left of the second star which seems entirely wrong. Hope I'm off base.

i looked at and considered buying this coin, but the right obverse field seemed to have wipe marks and was concerned that it had been cleaned. let us know how it looks when you get it in hand. let us know how it looks when you get it in hand. Looks original to me. Although very slight PVC near the cap/pole only which I will attempt to take off using acetone soon. Overall a nice coin for my type set! |

You posted some new pictures in your album, and I can see that it has definitely been cleaned (it was a thought in the back of my mind, but I was hoping it was just the holder). AU details. Still worth more than you paid.
