I stopped in to a branch the other day (Friday), and asked if they had any dollar coins. The teller's eyes lit up, and she said "I have 100 of the big ones, do you want them? I've had them for over a year." I gladly took them off her hands. My regular branch though, hasn't had more then a couple in the last 6 months.

I got a roll from the bank a while back just to have a few, but haven't asked lately. No silver, just the D stamped one I sent to a member.

@ Jbuck, I have 3 banks here that Tellers have around $ 20 to $ 30.00 worth and one CU where they have over $ 1,100.00 worth. No doubt someone's dump.

It is crazy the amount I see in my neck of the woods at the moment.

If I had accounts with all 32 different banks/credit unions in my town, then I may find one or two a month. Most won't even sell you $1 of cents w/o account, stinks. Then, my really great, nice teller had to go on pregnancy leave and not come back, only to be replaced by "Frau Brucher" (horse whinny!) Who checks EVERYTHING for herself and other previously favored clients. No more red seals, Ike's, silvers or foreign.. And trying to cultivate relationships with new tellers seems to bring awkward stares from those young men......guess I'll just have to open a few more accounts, my other bank stopped accepting CRH dumps after I broke their cheap *** machine...twice, so, kind of stuck at the moment.

Possibly. I would be afraid to get them because I would have a difficult time spending them.

Those Ike$ were for spending on the Dollar coin Project 100K, so I stopped at face plus a reasonable shipping charge. (Actually, the reserve hasn't been met yet)

I've got over 400 of these sitting in tubes. I keep picking them up. Yep, I'm seeing a lot of them. I'll try to sell them at some point as a lot.
