Yep, there are over 1,000 posts per day usually, we can't see them all.

We absolutely do change them as we see them or they are reported.

Not to retaliate, I think it's annoying too, but what does it really cost you? Click a thread: >1 second. think to yourself, "Whoops, I don't know anything about this series! Better click away!" : <0.1 seconds. Click the back arrow on your browser: <1 second. Total time wasted: <2.1 seconds.
Time taken for staff to find and edit a post? >5 seconds. Don't get me wrong, it IS annoying, but I simply don't think it's worth the effort of any of us.

It's 100% worth the effort because the topic title is the single most important thing on the page for search engines. The better the titles the better the chances people will find it to bring in new members.

I didn't mean for all the titles to be renamed. Just from here on out "we" members should ask the thread starter to rename their thread. I was just confused as to why my titles were renamed when I used penny,or Jefferson and these new threads have zero on what coin it is.

Well my Two Cents - 1. Even if it waste the previously estimated 2.1 seconds, those seconds add up. Not to mention that the estimation lacks the time to read the first few sentences of the post to understand what it's about. New estimation? I'm guessing 5 seconds which is a whole 'nother ballgame. That really adds up. It's not a big waste of time, but it's enough of an inconvenience to bother anyone at least once and at least moderately-which isn't cool. 2. Bobby is correct in stating that correct titles helps SEO (search engine optimization) on CCF's part. This hurts not only all of us from gaining additional users, possible great coin minds, and content from reaching us. Compacting this problem is the hurt of the actual site owners, because what hurts us equally hurts site revenue. Again, it's not 'much' but it should be worked on.

Honestly, it just doesn't bother me. If I open a topic that I'm not familiar with, it increases the chance that ill learn something new.

How you approach this makes all the difference in the world, though. Imagine being an excited new collector with what you think might be something big, and the first words appearing from the first responder to your first thread at a new forum are an admonition about the semantic technique you used to post. Coin? What coin? We care more about form than substance.... By all means, encourage people to post in ways which better get their point across, and improve their chances of receiving accurate information. Peer pressure is a heckuva lot more effective than top-down Moderation. But be aware of the stick you're swinging, and the effect of swinging it inappropriately. You can tell someone to go pound sand, and if you're sweet enough about it, they'll not only do it immediately but thank you for the suggestion.

Quote: Honestly, it just doesn't bother me. If I open a topic that I'm not familiar with, it increases the chance that ill learn something new. That's me as well. With my mobile viewing platform, I can't see users' avatars with posts or country in New or Active Topics (I don't even know if others can). I "click" on something about a nickel, and it turns out to be Canadian, which I know essentially nothing about. Sometimes, I leave immediately because I can't contribute but, sometimes I read through and learn something. You don't have to actively collect something to read about it and learn. I view pretty much everything I see that has an interesting title whether denomination is included in it or not. The only exception, really, is a title with " VAM". I'm not ready for that. With the volume of posts and the number of those by people completely new to the hobby, I understand the lack of immediate info in titles and the workload put on staff to correct that. As jbuck said: Quote: If you see something, say something. Use the "Report this Post to the Staff" link in every topic and reply. I mostly use that for topics in the wrong forum but, a title change is just as good a reason to use it. The mass of us non-staff views more quickly what the Mods can and can individually find as a problem. Thank you to the Mods and Staff for this great place!

Really, anything you see or think is wrong is worth sending to us. Yes, we do a lot of work, but we get a lot of help from the membership.
