Underneath them holes - that's what your picture shows!
Realistically you should throw things like this right in the garbage and spend your time on credible error coins that are actually worth a few cents. JMO.

Look, it's obviously not from the mint. Watch my video, it's a science expirement. It's either zinc over copper like Mark said or copper being stripped to reveal zinc underneath (like I said).

@crazybo- sorry, didn't think about little johnnie and providing him with material

And

@OP, it's 'matte' becuase of the subsequent circulation after the expirement.

Very heavy PMD. Been stripped of its Copper plating. Worth exactly one cents. Spender.

After watching that video, I would really like to try that.

I don't know what yours is llewellyn but, my first impression was heavy environmental damage. Although, it very well could be the product of a science expirement with added corrosion. Either way, it has no additional value. It is too far gone to claim that it is a genuine unplated cent from the Mint.

Keep searching and posting!

@spruett, only do it in a well ventilated area. It's some pretty toxic reactions.

It was copper plated before being altered. How can I tell? Note the area that peeled on the reverse? That is where the copperplating and what ever else was on the coin was over the zinc core. PSD, altered.

When you make fun of people that are trying to learn all it does is make people not want to ask questions. Just because u have been doing this since the womb doesn't make it ok to laugh at people.
