I was told early in my stamp and coin collecting years, the only thing rarer than the mintage of many of the Newfoundland issues are Newfoundland collectors, but enjoy some are quite rare

Collecting Newfoundland pieces in circ grades is quite affordable, they are generally very scarce in nice UNC grades...

One might think the NFLD coins would be worth more considering their low mintages but since the collector market is limited they seem to still be quite affordable (in circulated condition).

If there are 20 Collectors and 50 available Coins for a rare issue there is NO demand. Sort of describes the Newfy Coin Market. Being of Newfoundland Heritage I have a soft spot for the Coinage myself and have handled at least one of each of the entire Coinage series and most of the Bank notes in my dealer career . This includes two wonderful collections that had numerous finest graded pieces . All I can say the similar rarity if it were let's say USA or Australia the coins would have brought MOON MONEY! The fact they were coins of Newfoundland made them extremely difficult to sell for proper money . Indeed one of the Newfoundland collections we handled took four months for us to get paid. Tread carefully when buying Newfy heavy hitters as they can be extremely difficult to resell down the road. To finish there is a positive in the Newfoundland coin market right now ...... Newfoundland 2 Dollar Gold are Red hot right now. The demand is being spurred by investors NOT coin collectors.

I collect NFLD 1c strikes (large and small cents)... it is relatively easy to build a date set in circulated grades, but trying to get some high grades, it is a different animal...
Sort of reminds me of golf - easy to learn, difficult to master...

I am totally fine with circulated grades for these. The series would otherwise be unobtainable for me. I do love the crazy low mintages.

The set I am working on... https://www.PCGS.com/setregistry/no...meset/117576I am not trying to be competitive with this set, and it is a lower priority than my errors and other coin sets. II just want completion with good coins, when I have the spare cash...
