Okay boys,
here are the sharper pictures! I bought this coin in france for 80 Euro over the melt value including the shipment fee. I was hoping for a MS 64 and expecting at least a MS 62. I think this was a good buy.
How do you feel about this coin now?
Greetings from Germany

The new pics put it on the 64/65 line. It's at least a 64.

Thank you for the answers! I am very happy with this coin as well. Are there further opinions? At least we have good pictures now! What would be the US-Price for a coin like this? I paid 1120 Euro.

1120 Euro is $1334 USD today. This piece contains $1245 USD in gold today.

As a raw coin most would put it around $1400 USD. You got a good deal.

Very lovely clean fields. Great coin!

Yup. Those fields are better than what I see on 65s. So close to gem but for that knee hit and some coin scrapes on liberty. 64+ and would probably CAC imho.

This date has been selling for $1400-1500 in recent Heritage auctions in MS-64 grade. If it achieves an MS-64+ grade the typical price jumps a couple hundred dollars. Expect a price closer to $3000 if it were to grade MS-65.

The 1922 isn't the most common St. Gaudens date but the population of MS-64 examples is well over 8000 pieces. So, it's easy to find. In any case you got a good deal.

@Jaobler Do you mean this coin?

I find that this one has a lot more scratches (especialy at the reverse) and less cleaner fields. Is the HA example overgradet? In german community there are rumors that ha owns parts of NGC. Is that right?

If you register for a free Heritage account you can view prices realized from previous auctions; it's a great resource for learning the actual sale prices for specific coins.

I don't think the example you linked is obviously overgraded. Keep in mind there is a lot of variation between coins at a given grade. Your coin appears to be nicer than the NGC coin but that's no guarantee it would grade higher.

I have no information regarding the relationship between HA and NGC. Heritage does offer a service for sellers to get raw coins graded for placement in auctions. I think a seller can specify which grading service they want in that case.
