Very attractive bond and interesting story. Thanks for posting. Have you collected any of the other denominations?

No, I only have the 100 rubles. I think it is the nicest one in the series, and I'm good with just the one.

If you've been following the railroad topic, you'll notice I've been featuring vignettes designed by A.E. Foringer. Here's another one on a stock for Royal Dutch Petroleum.

I don't often pick up non-engraved securities, which usually excludes stocks and bonds from Europe, since these were typically printed lithographically. But this German bond caught my eye with an attractive design and an aviation theme. Atlantis Airlines was founded in 1966 and flew out of Frankfurt. But it wasn't a typical commercial carrier -- instead of scheduled flights, it partnered with tour companies for trips to the U.S. and Mediterranean. Unfortunately, these charters were not enough to provide financial stability and the company folded in 1972.

At 50 Deutsche Marks, this is an unusually small bond -- it would have been worth about $12 U.S. when issued in 1969.

I grown a bit fond of these dollar-denominated German bonds that were issued during the 1920s. Most were printed by American Bank Note Co. and a few have special vignettes that were not used on anything else. But not those I'm posting here.

A charming ABNco product for the city of Bordeaux in 1919.

Known for it's eponymous wine, it is situated in southwestern France.

On the reverse, the bespoke vignette of the city seal is surrounded
by rays, but within each set of ray lines, the "City of Bordeaux" is repeated.

I agree -- that Bordeaux bond is very nice. I like the back as much as the front!

Another batch of dollar-denominated German bonds arrived. I'm running out of album space for these! Something like 85 different varieties exist, but I'm not going to collect all of them.
