You are not alone. Packages have been sluggish.
I sent a priority 1000 miles, then sent a registered package the day after to the same address and the registered arrived two days before the priority. Usually there's nothing as slow as registered.

Former USPS Friendly Carrier: The holidays are a time when employees are allowed to screw off without consequences. Shortly after I was medically retired in 2008, they stopped using whips....

Registered is definitely the slowest, but tracked First Class is often not far behind in ancient hubs like Detroit.

Gripe of the day. I've always suspected this happens. I was expecting a valuable package (2 one ounce gold American Eagles) that was being sent priority mail Provided tracking showed it was due to be delivered today. I live on a cul-de-sac and happened to catch the mail truck as it entered. Anticipating the knock on the door I waited at the front window to head the carrier off before they knocked so the dogs wouldn't bark. Watched as the truck went around the block, and then to the bank of mailboxes that included mine. Truck passes my house and goes on to the next bank of mailboxes. I hurry outside and get my mail. Contained in my mail is one of those slips that say "Sorry we missed you, you can come to the post office or indicate another day for delivery." I hustle over to the mail truck and confront the mail carrier. She starts stammering and asking me if I was home yesterday (Sunday) then corrects to Saturday. (I know from the tracking that the package was in Memphis on Saturday, but don't mention this fact.) I tell her I'm retired and am almost always home. I get my package after signing for it. By the way, I'm also a stamp collector and I think the USPS does an awesome job considering what they're faced with.

First class tracking is my main mode of sending and receiving. To and from TPG'ers and when I buy on ebay. I was always amazed how you can just cut and paste your tracking number into your search bar and your USPS tracking information pops right up. Anyway, I was expecting a package one day. That morning, I pulled up the tracking website with my tracking number and it said: "Out for delivery". That usually means, it's on the truck and I would be receiving it that day. My normal mail carriers delivery time is about 1:00PM.....so I waited. My mail box is at the street, in front of the house. 1:15PM here he comes and my package! I saw him put the mail in the box and he left. So I walk out to the mail box.........no package! What the heck is this about?....I asked myself. I was a little bit concerned but said, okay tomorrow. Before I want to bed that night (about 11:00) I said; let me check the tracking website again just for the heck of it. The tracking said: "Delivered" What? Delivered? There's gotta be a mistake! Wait a minute, let me go out and check. So I went out in the pouring rain......the package was there! The mail carrier obviously came back before the end of his day, because that package was not there the first time!

I sent two first class packages on different days from different locations and neither one has even entered the USPS tracking system and it's been almost a week. I'm trying to get in touch with USPS

I'm trying to get in touch with USPS Futile, been there done that. Over the past few years I've had quite a few packages that only showed the item was accepted - THEN NOTHING. Packages that normally take 2-3 ways then suddenly showed up as delivered a week or later. Some handlers are simply not scanning packages as they get passed like they're supposed to. GRIPE - I once had a package show all the tracking info until it got the last major city (Atlanta), then nothing. I tried for 6 months to get my package back - NOPE! It was "lost" in their main processing center there.

We had a package that showed "Delivered" last Friday, and it wasn't anywhere to be found. Later that evening, the tracking updated to show it had reached the destination PO. It was actually delivered the next day. Oops!
