How could painted coins ever look better than an empty hole?

Now there's a thought that would've never crossed my mind--wow.

Paint wouldn't really bother me. It's very easy to remove and may actually protect the surface from oxidation. I'd like to see how the coins look after removal of the paint layer.

Very odd indeed. Good point 53562.
Why would someone try to sell something in such a fashion (less than melt) when they could just remove the paint and dump them at the same price or a bit more at a bullion dealer. Maybe not one close by.

Maybe someone should have suggested to him grinding the dates off with a Dremel and punching his own dates with a hammer and punch set.
OOh. That hurts to think about.

Or he could have taken some steel wool and "sanded them down" .....then used a Dremel to draw a "neat picture" on them........
...
No matter what someones "coin collector knowledge wisdom level" is.....I can never seem to be amazed at what people do to their coins !
Wish he'd have "asked questions" first, before proceeding with that idea !...

Hey......the "Hobo Buff. Nickels" DO sell !......you never know G.O. ......this "comment" might start a new "collectors item" now !.....(and you'll be responsible for it !)
I can see it now......the Hobo Morgan on Home Shopping Network......they'll be "gold plated" too.....with each "artistic rendition" different from the other........untold number of these "out there" so there's a limited supply, buy yours now !
\
No Morgan will be safe from the clutches of these evil doers now!

You know, the Gold Plated Hobo Morgans on HSN will actually be cast copies of one original, quite possibly made in Asia.

"Hobo Morgans"

Once those get to HSN, they should be renamed slacker Morgans--"buy a dozen and get rich overnight...without working" Isn't that the whole "riches from nothing" mentality nowadays?

Hey Jbuck--nice avatar!
