Interestingly enough it brought $384 on Heritage Auctions last March. $384 sounds high to me, too high.

It's actually an interesting (but expensive) conversation piece. I wonder what caused that damage. Blender? Garbage disposal?

I could imagine that being intentional damage. Anger towards the one-time owner perhaps?

Might be intentional, but it also looks like it circulated for quite some time after the damage was done, perhaps a hundred years ago. Guess that makes a blender or garbage disposal unlikely....
