Compairing the OP's coin and mine . Arrows point to clasd 6 hooks on the E and class 6 extra thickness of the horizontals of the L and you compaired to the veticles of the letters.

When you see these side by side with a normal coin then it makes more cents. (pun intended) My first though was: "I wonder what extreme die wear would look like on that area?" Found this: No, yours is a DDR. Nice find. But I would welcome a side by side. That way everyone here could see the DDR better.

Why do you call this a woody?

Under AMERICA on the reverse the lines are not rolling lines. They are die flow and die polishing. The coin is not a woodie. A woodie is a poor mix of metal on the stock material.

Seeing helps us to know what to look for. So keep showing what looks different. Sometimes you have something that even I don't know about.

Well, what I see is more so on the obverse than the reverse. Looks like grainy lines, especially on Lincoln's forehead, looks like lines running pointing at 1 o'clock, to 7 o'clock fashion. You can also see it more so I'm the bow tie and under liberty the most. Maybe it was whisked or something but those lines almost make it look like a woody. Maybe I'll get a better close up of the obverse just to make extra sure. I dislike attributing woodys lol I'm always wrong lol. I know about the roller lines and what those look like. Mine looks much like a diognal white noise if you get what I'm saying! Thanks for everyone's comments, so very exciting! Was hoping E&V and Bates saw!! ;) I'll get the additional close up shot of the obverse in less than an hour.
Bates, I'm not going to lie though, this one was tough to see and even John was hung up as was I for a moment. A lot of them look like ddrs cause of flattening so don't get frustrated when looking for these. Just look at the dots if your ever hung up on one. Usually the extra elongated dots give it away.
