It's a large date but is that good for proof?

I think it's a small date. The bottom of the 7 is even with the 0. LIBERTY is weak on your coin, compare the left side of the Y to the right side, but that's not the best way to determine it.

I vote large and would be the lesser valued of the two.
Late edit: I'll add this image from PCGS.

Even tho this is info for BU 1970 S Lincolns, the same goes for proofs.

I also thought that the hook of the 9 had to be pointing directly east instead of SE. I am probably getting it confused, but this is a good reminder then.

Edit: TNG squeezed in ahead of me with the pic. So I think the vote is split now.

Pic too small. Since proof, looks to me like double duty MD. Note the North sides of 70, shows MD clearly, this causes optical illusion of tops being even, it isn't plus look at 9 hook, wrong angle... Liberty may have MD as well causing same effect.

I hooked up my USB scope to get a closeup on the date. In hindsight, probably should have done that originally!

I take that'll be the final ruling then! Thank you everyone for your input. A little backstory on how I acquired it for anyone interested. I had purchased it with a bunch of other proof cents on ebay to fill those holes in my Dansco. After doing some math, I ended up paying $1.88 for this coin, so I am pleased!

Pictures do not always tell the story, the close up does. Congrats, those proof small dates don't grow on trees.

I was just barely able to make out that it was a Small Date cent, and I was right. Although, I do agree that the first picture was hard to tell from.
