No, I don't think so Mrzllewellyn! I see what you are seeing as well. I just can't quite make it out from these pics

@mebecrzy, your pictures are excellent! Now if you can get a clear close up of the area circled will help determine if this is a Retained Cud!

I see a single crack on one end, but it should have two and some movement (design miss match) for it to be a Retained Cud.

All what has been pointed out are normal machining problems, happens on all machined metal products so are common "errors". Most unless quite dramatic, will command little if any premiums, but you can find buyers(suckers) anywhere!

But with the better pics I now see that it is not. Keep looking though, there's plenty out there to be found

I like you attitude. You are one who wants to learn. You might check out my youtube videos on my signature line. They are numbered 1-5 with different topics. They are about 20 minutes long and total time of almost 2 hours. So you might want to take you time with that.

Also I there is a link CoopHome that when you click on it or do a search with that word, it will bring up images and information to round out your knowledge on different thoughts on coin collecting. There are probably a thousand different images total on those threads. Enjoy and if you have questions: Please ask. Many here will help you with them.
