Quote: Not in the eyes of collectors at this time. Actually it is from many especially those that have used the various services ICG is not the 4th tier one, that has more than 4 letters. Quote: Collectors are ultimately the judge and jury and from the results I've seen at auctions As I said if auction results are the judge then its PCGS only or PCGS CAC. NGC is second tier and should be ignored as well if that is the standard. The auction site I know you like a lot has MANY if not most things sell weak unless it's a can't miss has to sell high no matter where thing. Most of the premium coins end up elsewhere and a number never make it to public sale. There's a lot more to the market than what you see there. But as I said none of this applies to the high end of the market where PCGS is king

Great post! I use ICG for coins in the $75-$250 range and have been very happy with their service. I live in Tampa so I can walk-in too (and NGC which is also closeby in Sarasota does not allow that).

basebal21 that is a good read. I am one of those that never look at ICG. However, I believe give them a shot on a few coins.
Thanks for sharing your opinions and thoughts.

I don't post often and haven't posted in awhile, but I also live in Tampa area and have been using ICG for over 10 years. ICG has always been fair, accurate, and technically on point. ANOTHER GIVEN is their customer service. They are always professional and courteous at the coin shows. They give free appraisals and opinions as well as telling you not to waste your money on a problem/details coin. Quite frankly I dont see a drop in a premium when you see an ICG coin on either Heritage or Stacks auction. I will continue to use them.

This helps but would you buy a 8,000.00 coin?

Quote: This helps but would you buy a 8,000.00 coin? If it's a US numismatic coin at $8k personally I would only get PCGS CAC. That would be to big of an investment in a single coin for me to want anything but that

Ah gotcha. sorry about that. The system wouldn't allow me to send a PM or I would have attempted that first.

I left it, just broke the link badly so bots won't recognize it as an email.

@basebal21
Thanks for the info. I've bought coins from all 4 and I've found ICG coins that have been graded accurately have given me a lot of extra value because I've gotten a lot of coin for my budget. I also like that the graders/organization does not cross the "you mean we get to grade AND sell the same coin?" confliction.
Great post
