BLP 2 1/2 and 5 Dollars are difficult for me to grade.
Nevertheless, I agree with Adam_E, and for the same reasons.

Technical Grade 55. Eye Appeal 8/10. Lovely open feel with surprisingly few abrasions for the grade.

 Looks to be just the faintest wear on the upper leading wing tip. |

Since most of the big boys already posted, and as I'm trying to make a decision on this coin, I will say it has an ms62 grade. I think with these coins it's also the luster and skin that needs to be taken in to consideration as based in that this coin doesn't look au at all to mr but based on the suggested wear I agree. I just don't think that the shoulder alone is the only factor as I have seen many ms65 coins and lower with some weakness and even wear there. But I'm still learning as well. My opinion is based on buying so many Indians over the years and learning how to read the photos. So at Ms 62 do you feel it lacks eye appeal or is still nice? Price is not a huge factor as I like the coin and it won't make a ton of difference. Thanks!

Hard to grade these by photos alone, but I think it's very attractive at AU-58 and still very attractive at MS-62.

Jon I have little faith in TPG's these days. You have to look at each coin on it's own merits, buy the coin, not the holder. This coin shows obvious signs of light wear on all the high points, not just the eagle's shoulder. I see it on various parts of the war bonnet including feathers and the Indian's cheek and jaw. There is a break in the surface luster which is always obvious even with a coin that has been dipped to bring back the luster. |

I see more wear the more I look on the war bonnet compared to when I first posted. I may see if I can get a deal and buy the coin anyway. I find it attractive but in hand those areasay bother me depending on how it really looks. It's returnable.. and there is only one way I can find out. I agree about judging each coin on its own merrits. But that is also why I thought the skin looked MS. It has that look to me, although the signs of wear are becoming more obvious the more I look.
