I'm having a hard time believing that it's a fake. I'm not saying that I'm right, but maybe Coop could explain maybe?

I did email Coop, so he'll see this thread. I'll be interested in what he has to say.

Agreed it has been altered to look like a 5 cent on one cent planchet but there is not enough time left to get it removed.
What surprises me is that two of the bidders have over four
thousand purchases each.
You would think that they would know better.

I could be wrong too but I see what looks like they were trimming it down almost went to far on that one side but then colored it copper and then handled it a bit to dull the high spots but I also don't trust many people. I could be completely wrong on my assumption

We'll see what Coop has to say. I could be wrong as well.

17 bids - $152.50! I wouldn't touch that - no edge pictures.

Seller probably thought that cut would help sell it for copper as it shows but coloring it after doing it would make it look that way.

If it were the real thing, there's no reason why it should be so ragged looking, is there?

Here is a photo of a 5cent on 1 cent planchet.
It is a Canadian coin but will give an idea of what it should look like.
Note the smooth edges and should be slightly off centre.

I see what looks like white metal on the rim to the right of the building.

I'm leaning towards genuine.

The seller has a lot of slabbed and obviously genuine major errors, I don't think it'd be conclusive enough to warrant removing from ebay. though I'm not sure id take a chance on it myself.

I wonder if it got caught in the upsetting mill?

Damaged a bit during or after the strike. But the color is correct and if the thickness if correct, look like the correct item. But Would I buy it? No. The damage to the coin scares me.

Weight appears to be correct BUT for me, no slab/no interest.
