This was previously graded XF40 by NGC. It graded AU env damage. Very strange bc I see no environmental damage. These pics accurately represent coin in hand. Beware sending to NGC, theyve been harsh lately!

XF40 is a joke. even a novice grader could see that. there is no ED on this coin. break that puppy out and resub it. another example of grade the coin not the holder

Crack it out and see what PCGS says. Being in an ED holder is pathetic.

From what I can see, that's a very poor call on their part.

The only thing I see that might be ED is the darkened area around 8:00 on the reverse. The original XF40 grade was very conservative.

My god it just get's worse with them. Inhand can you see any depressions on the coin that looks like something has eaten into the surface? Even if it's in a small insignificant area?

They must be calling the dark area by the eagle's wing tip ED. I sure don't see it in the photo blow up. Always a crap shooting sending coins to the TPG's.

ED? No way! They must've thought the dark toning was ED for some reason...

I can say the coin in pic is how it looks in hand and I really cant find any hints of ED. I was almost certain this one would upgrade. Going to try PCGS this time around

It is too bad that the TPG's will not specify what they are seeing or how they come to a designation. I have stopped submitting to TPG's after my experiences, which are mirroring what is happening to your coins. I just hope they either start hiring more knowledgeable or experienced graders.
