See . it's OK to call them pennies!
Good luck in the roll search.

So the box was a big disappointment and by far the worst and most futile one to date. It was so bad that eventually I was tearing rolls open and fanning out just looking for anything. Here's the result.

Copper - 0
Wheats - 0
Canadian - 0
2009 - 0
Non Us or Canadian - 0
Anything of any interest - 0

I've never seen anything like it, just a box full of machine rolled circulated cents from the 90's and 2000's with nothing of interest. I didn't check for errors but I'm not even sure I want to waste the time. If it was customer rolled I could understand but a random machine rolled picked so clean was odd and very disappointing.

However there is a silver lining (pun intended) First there is no way the next box could be worse then this and I still want to roll search a meaningful box. So I skipped bank A today in fear of getting another dud box and proceeded to Bank B instead. Lo and behold! this was sitting in the teller tray sticking out like a sore thumb!

Ironic in that if I didn't receive such a terrible box of cents I would not have been at bank B to begin with and never found the Kennedy.

Box #2 tonight! and hopefully better than the first.

I have higher hopes for box #2. Maybe it's just in my mind but I feel like I've had better luck in the sealed boxes like this one compared to the one with the holes in it like the first box.

Perhaps it's just superstition.

I'll be hunting again tonight & hopefully it will take more than one night.

Should have opened it in your car and checked to see if all the enders were nice, bright, and full of shields.

Ouch at that first box! I've had something similar happen to me a long time back. Not very often though, good luck on the second box!

Box #2 was much more interesting and fun. The count was as follows.

25 Wheats
13 Canadian
457 Coppers
1 2009 Bicentennial

The Wheat Pennies were common dates but I did get a 1919 and a 47s. Anything S is tougher to find here on the East Coast.

Here's the 1919.

The one lone Bicentennial.

I'm not a fan of toned coins but this 1985 was just so beautiful. I tossed it back with the rest of the zinc's but pulled it back because it just stands out. It's the first toned penny I've kept. The picture doesn't do it justice, it's almost a golden color and toned evenly front and back.

Lastly I found this beautiful 1965 which is the year I was born. Again the picture doesn't do it justice. Really beautiful shine on it.

Well, That's it. Looking forward to a winter of box hunting and sharing my finds on the Cool Lincoln Thread.

Thanks for looking.

I confess to still learning all of what to look for. Do I know how to identify and spot some? Yes.
