Numismedia says $820.

It's a great looking coin.

Coin prices puts AU-50 at $775, but that would be high end retail. If you could get this one for less than or around that, you'd be doing pretty well.

My CDN is 6 months old.
It lists AU at $575 and MS-60 at $850.

Not me ... but that's the risk you take when you discuss potential online purchases on forums. If I spot something I really want, I share it with the world after I have it in hand.

I have discussed potential purchases here, but I don't leave trails that can be easily followed. With that photo and the type/denomination anyone could have found it on ebay, teletrade, etc.

Sorry you missed it.

even though this is one of the coins I need for my 7070 album I would never sneak in and buy something a fellow forum member has found and showing interest in unless they decide they are going to pass on the coin and I think its a good deal after they have decided against buying it

oh, I also would not buy a coin that someone else on the forum has expressed interest in. Of course "leaving a trail" makes it easier for someone to go and find, and buy a particular coin. There is no real rule that you can't buy it, but is should definitely cause some moral pause. ( I would hope) I am assuming that we on the forum are friends in our common interest for coins, and I do not believe a friend would undercut another.

Think this way, in girl rules explanation:

If a girl likes a guy and introduces him to a friend is it ok for that friend to decide she likes him too and go after him? NO.

just my opinion here.

I was half joking. If it was someone on the forum I could easily laugh it off. I also wouldn't that, and I'm sure pretty much everyone feels the same. In the end it worked out for me. It was for my 7070 and I ended up buying the 1803 Cent I posted, and I saved a few bucks.

It was a BIN for $850, and I seller agreed to let me have it for $810. Less my 10% Coupon, total for me would have been $729. I was just about to do it, then BAM! It was gone. But I'm still happy with what I ended up with. :)

sellers are allowed to agree to the sale price and then sell it to someone else. doesn't sound kosher to me

You're misunderstanding. He agreed to the price (before) it was sold. I would presume that whoever got in front of me paid full price.

Sometimes the best deals are the ones we don't make. I really like the 1803 cent you purchased instead.
