I don't know exactly the procedure used when they mint a coin. How is it possible for the mint mark only to strike twice. Is the Mint Mark pressed separate from the main coin and date ?

They used to be separate but now done together. I am not sure of exact time it switched.

The mint mark is added to the die by hand with a punch for each mint mark.
