Whatever Verdi-care accomplishes, there will likely be a discolored and pitted area underneath. This coin is a cull, I'm afraid.

Probably. One does not know until they look. Nothing to lose but time and a few drops of Verdi Care.

Tony, you're absolutely right. I just meant irreparably damaged, not worthless. I hope the OP will show us the results!

I certainly will. I will be taking new photos this evening and posting a little later. I understand the value is greatly impaired but while it's disappointing it matters not to me. It sits proudly in my collection..

ok folks here are the results. After a day of using verdi-care to see if I could kill off the verdigris and hopefully improve the coin a little here she is...  Not sure it's improved any further than the original attempt but I don't believe the verdigris will eat any more...

Oh Well life isn't perfect . Like I said 1861 is a better date , still a collectible piece .
