Many years ago we could get mint sewn bags with lead seals on them. The odds were better to get misshaped coins, like double struck or broad strikes in bags. Maybe the machines that roll up coins would catch the odd shaped coins and reject them from getting rolled? I dunno?

I always liked the $500 bags of halves, because of all the extra goodies that came with them, even if skunked. I'm talking bags usually at least $20 over in the form of quarters, dimes, guitar picks, rings etc...but alas, 30 or more banks in this town and very few with coin counters. So, boxes by force.

I like to buy bags off my banks coin counter if I can. Do get a box every now and then if no bags are available. Don't really notice much difference in sucess

I know of three banks in my area that deal with them still.

Same here. For me, it was always loose rolls. Never knew about boxes or bags until I came to CCF and by then I had quit CRH.

Bags. Where I'm at N.F. String does pre-sort on a lot of coins, removing both silver and copper coins from circulation and selling them separately for profit. Then they roll everything post-sort and send that to the bank.

Welcome, MBACMA.
I have to inquire whether your info on String is based on personal employment there, or if you can offer some solid proof that String pulls silver coins. Just asking because I've been in the game for years, and this has been an ongoing debate and no one has been able to persuade many of us of String's practice. Thanks.

I have searched a few "Mint Sealed" bags of Nickels from early 1960s. If you can imagine coins being in a bag for all them years, being tossed around from location to location, they were dinged up pretty good from all the movement of coin on coin inside the bag. Nothing better than an MS63 grade due to all the little micro scratches and scuffs. These were $200 face value bags, 4,000 nickels in each bag. I've had better luck buying BU Rolls that perhaps have been in a wrapped for several dozen years and tend to have less ding and more bling.

Ive had better luck with boxes. Penny bags usually give you some extra dimes, and half bags you get all the goodies, like, keys, clips, dollar coins, and finger nail clippings.
