Just to expand on it a little bit as far as USPS registered mail works. It does have a tracking number and the USPS does track it, but it's mostly internally. Even in the USA registered mail tracking that you can look up online is intentionally spotty or full of automatic or outdated updates as part of the security features so someone cannot easily locate where it is. Once it's delivered the real tracking is generally updated on the site but until then it may look like it's sat somewhere for days when it's been on the move the whole time. The other methods such as Express, First Class or Priority give you accurate tracking.

If you have your own shipping account NGC will send it however you want, but if not than they always do USPS registered which very likely has to do with their insurance policy. I've tried to offer up a liability waiver if they would send it priority or express just because it takes so long to get the registered for me, but even than they told me they wouldn't do it

Should I file a police report for lost/stolen numismatics at this point. We are entering the sixth week on a shipment that usually takes 5 or 6 days.

When I saw this post pop back up I thought for sure you were going to tell us your items had been delivered. Sorry you are having such a difficult time.

Nothing yet. Just a lot of long phone calls and stonewalling. It is appearing as though the package was stolen or lost or shelved and forgotten about with the CBSA. I have reported the loss as a numismatic crime and NGC has filed a claim with USPS.

All I really want are the coins. Very frustrating and upsetting. This will be my last submission to a TPG company as cross-border shipping has become increasingly risky and more expensive over the past 5 years or so.

NGC charged you for the shipping and insurance you should start with them, unless the tracking shows it's in Canada Post system

This package is still lost and presumed stolen. NGC has basically said, 'not our problem'. They have been very unhelpful and have made very little effort to assist or reach out. USPS has been even worse. I am very disappointed with the whole process which has been very expensive sive and time consuming.

A stolen property report has been filed with the Niagara Regional Police.

Update: One of the stolen gold coins appeared on ebay via a jeweller/pawn shop in Miami. Exact same coin, exact same holder. Miami-Dade police have been notified as are the United States Postal Inspection Service. I have spoken to several officers and agents to aid in their investigation and more information should be forthcoming this week. NGC has also aided in the investigation and their fraud prevention and shipping departments have been extremely helpful.

With the NGC helping you (now that the authorities are involved) and several officers investigating, looks like a glimmer of hope. I hope the crooks go to jail. Too many lately.

Thanks for the update, and good luck!

Update: I purchased my own stolen gold coin off of ebay and it arrived today. I have now paid for the same coin twice, and am attempting to file an ebay claim against the seller via a Federal Law Enforcement officer with the United States Postal Inspection Services. So far this coin has cost me $1800, and I am hopeful that I can recover $1000 of it.

Welcome home, you expensive little darling!!
