Does "die clash" also explain the ridge in the rim on the ovverse?

That "rim" or lip is from a very slightly mis-aligned die, with metal pushed up between the die and the collar. That said, it is still within mint tolerances (for the day) and adds no additional value.

I think your right Okie, the DP9 high/low I have has a little doubling on the top right of the 3 and a die clash in front of the 3

Neither the 9 or the 3 are doubled or repunched .. .the 9 has a little PMD that expands the tail a bit. The D/C through the V is deep and into the design. The anomaly in the "AT" looks like a planchette flaw. |

New picture's paint a much different identity of the coin like okie mentioned the close up shows no DP on the 9 or the 3

Well, thanks for the bad news okiecoiner and papeldog. I guess I have the most interesting $9.00 coin ever. I still love all of the unusual details, war wounds and all. Fun journey, I appreciate your time.

Don't be discouraged mtracy14, you have a nice 1893 high grade coin with a nice die clash on the obverse. There are several DP 9 varieties and DP 3's, but the one to watch for is the TP9 most have a die crack between DEI - Gratia.
