Yes,rusted junkers should always be washed and WAXED by hand....

Well, I gave Miss Liberty a 10 minute acetone bath last night. I think it improved the obverse slightly (not sure the photos do it justice). The reverse still looks pretty bad ... only very minor improvements in a few spots. You can compare for yourself.

Yeah as a pocket piece the pitting may be smoothed out somewhat and the color blended. Definitely post a pick this time next year.
