ebay says Cuban coinage is not allowed on it's site but I still see them being transacted. Why this double standard ?
And why is this embargo still in force, Cuba is no longer that evil dictator state it was in the 70s.
But I think if the embargo was lifted then all Cuban coins will nosedive in price.

It is my normal habit of recording on the 2x2 when, and how much I have paid, for every significant coin in my collection.

Some of the better cherry picks I have found in dealers' junk bins over the last 40 years, in no particular order:

Mauritius 1934 silver 1/2 rupee MS62 in 2012 for $5
Scheswig Holstein 1850 bronze 1 sechlsling MS62 BN in 1992, for $1
Netherlands Indies 1907 1 1/2 cent MS63 red in 1994, for 50cents
Sultanate of Delhi silver tanka Suris AH949=1540AD (11.4 grams) EF, for $10 in 1998

England Rutland one shilling silver token 1811 (undated) EF, for $5 in 2001
Egypt Ptolemy X11 80-51BC silver tetradrachm for $5 in 1982
USA 1923s SLQ VF35 for $2, in 1984
Palestine 10 mils 1940 MS64, for $2, in 1998

Russia copper 5 kopec 1776 EF for $10 in 1996
Roman Alexandria silver tetradrachm Hadrian (117-38AD) VF, Nilus reverse, for $4, in 1974
Rome Antoninus Pius (138-61AD) Denarius EF modius &corn ears reverse, for $4, in 1974
Belgium 1 franc 1867, MS63, for $15, in 2016

Ancient Greek Syracuse 5 litrai (214-12BC) veiled head of Philatus, fine, given to me in 2016
Australia 50 cents 2000 incused flag Unc. given to me in 2014
Australia Two dollars 1988 end of strip error for $5, in 2001
Rome Gallienus (253-68AD) antoninanus as struck for $20, in 2001

Nigeria British West Africa 1908 1/10 penny MS64 struck in aluminium for $2, in 1996
Nigeria British West Africa 1908 1/10 penny MS64 struck in copper nickel for $2, in 1996
French Polynesia 1979 nickel bronze piedfort proof only (only struck) for $12, in 2019
French New Caledonia 1979 nickel bronze piedfort proof, (only 150 struck), for $12, in 2019

Peru 20 centavos 1947 piedfort copper red Unc (only 300 struck), for $5, in 2014
Papua New Guinea 1976 5 toea only 777 struck, for $2, in 1986
Complete set of seven British Commonwealth coins of 1936 Edward V111 issued for circulation coins with center hole, plus India silver 5 Kori Edward V111 1936 all in MS62-65 bought over a period about 2 years 1997-99 for $1-$20.

Collection of 44 different types of silver British and British Commonwealth silver Florins (two shillings) condition varies from Fine to MS64 out of junk boxes, prices paid range from $2 to $15 over time from 1995 to 2005
Collection of about 100 copper nickel florins (two shillings) prices paid typically $1-$2, plus many taken at face value from Australian circulation

Ancient Greek Kroton silver stater VF, (330-324BC) given to me by a coin dealer, along with about a dozen Byzantine large bronzes in 2015
German New Guinea 1894 5 Marks EF, - given to me out of an estate.
Collection of 88 World square coins all machine struck, condition ranges from EF to MS64 prices paid range from 50 Cents to $2 over a period from 1995 to 2005.

As can be seen I have been fortunate enough to have had some coins gifted to me, but for the 'junk' box finds I have been fortunate enough to had established a good friendship with two internationally known coin dealer and auctioneer businesses both of whom have been in business for around 50 years.
I have gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience from those friendly associations, for which I am grateful.

Numismatically, I am a generalist, not a specialist, but aided nearly 50 years of good advice and pesonal experience, I also consider myself fortunate enough to make good use of that, to much more easily identify 'junk box' cherry picking opportunities.

Nevertheless, I still fully rely on CCF members for specialist knowledge and expertise. My learning curve is still steep.

Hi, I'm more of a banknote collector, I bought a note from a seller and he threw in some coins with my purchase, just thought I'd share them here. Some Zimbabwean coins and a Tanzania coin.
Particularly like the Tanzania coin myself.
