Moxking.....yea, an unusual way to do PMD unless that was their intention, NOT MINE? It was an image I remembered from reading "The Error Coin Encyclopedia" and the "Mega Red!" Looked similar!  Just missing the indentations but the waffle ripples are their!

Before you release it back to the wild id like to know how much it weighs and is it the same diameter as a normal cent?

  Second photo shows it stacked on top of same year coin, slightly smaller but more then likely shrunk from ripples?

Am I seeing thing? I swear I see numbers on this coin?  Trying to get a focused picture but with ripples very difficult!

Ok my thoughts are whirling now.......    I think I have "Wrong Planchet Coin" that was rejected? Gotta find a coin in that weight range? HELP community? Cooooop, need your input sir!

Recalibrated my scale and low and behold it was off by .06g? So the "waffle" actually weighed 1.70g
SORRY- finally put my glasses on!
Final Weight is 1.70g

I think you are just seeing pitting and damage. It can sometimes look like letters or shapes. As for the weight, the coin will be under the normal for a copper cent, but I'm sure that most of that will be from wear.

The details of the coin look like it was subjected to an acidic environment at some time. It may have been buried for years or exposed to acid. It doesn't look like all of the rim is there.
