Welcome to the forum! I agree with John1, but baffled as to the purpose for plating it. Worth keeping as a conversation piece though.

this is a hypothesis? normally when it is plated it is not magnetic but this piece is magnetic

The coin might have been light from being circulated and plating does not add much weight. John1 |

Looks like a case of a single plating on the coin. Leaving the surface rough, the surface may have been not prepared at all. The altered surface is not desired to a real coin collector.

PMD, but cool find. Keep it as a conversation piece for sure. Not like that is a big financial hit if you don't spend it.

thank you for your comments but your comments are different hypothesis of each person is nothing concrete he has a 1968-d and 1980 steel penny nobody talk about his so there is nothing official in the comments and I found this piece in 1991 worse not sure that someone is wasting time putting some cash down and that finally I find it in market on the edge of the beach, my cot file is not closed

I have a plated 1952 D LWC and even with the copper showing on the rim it is magnetic. |
