Thanks...hole_in_pocket, spruett001, and Conder101. It's nice to know that there is weak and strong ghosting.
Hmmmm, let that weakness be my strength in learning more about coins so I can find more errors and varieties.
Coin hunting is fun.
Unending learning.:)
Enjoy everyone.

I would need to see photos of the coin NOT inside of a 2X2. It may be a reflection of the Mylar.

I see the start of the PIDT:
1953-S---Halloween-Coin:-Ghosting-Progressive-Indirect-Design-Transfer
But it is not a scary coin, yet:

Hi, Panther.
Adhered to your suggestion.
Thanks.

Hi, Coop.
As always, my thanks for the information. I hope the mint can make coins like what you posted. That's scary.

1) 1953-S (bare coin)

This can been seen on Memorials and nickels as well:

We often seen this on nickels on the reverse on the FIVE CENTS, but don't make the connection to this issue when we do see it.

Thanks, Coop. I will start looking at the Memorials and nickles. And I will follow your instruction. Thanks, again.

Is this bi-directional indirect die transfer. It looks kinda like the Monticello's ghost is behind Jefferson and Jefferson's ghost is behind the Monticello on this struck through error. Two ghost for a nickel!

What is the weight of the last image of the nickel? The strike looks a bit weak on the obverse at 12:00 and the porch area on the building.

I'm curious too, coop. The rim seems to vanish as it approaches TJ's head. It's interesting.

Coop asked...

Quote:
What is the weight of the last image of the nickel?

It's 5 grams on the nose. I thought is might have been an adjustment strike. The reverse image above is new, but here's the original topic on the coin. http://goccf.com/t/357412&SearchTerms=1953-S

SOSICOIN;

I would say you have almost an exact copy of the PIDT that Coop posted.
