Chris- Man, if you found a "W" ender in that box, I could almost guarantee there are more on the inside. I'd be opening them for sure.

However, CoinHunter27's suggestion is also intriguing!

Thanks guys I'll fill you in at the end. I opened 5 to just check and found 3 Ws. I'll keep the ender, a tube of each D quarter and open the rest :-)

I'm a little confused.
Keeping the "W" ender is a-ok. What do you mean by "a tube" of quarters? Do you mean a roll? Also, what is wrong with the "P" quarters?
If you're saving a roll with a "D" on one end, it's possible there could be only ONE "D" in the whole roll (like the "W").

Not a bad haul.

Finished with 23 W's, 1 ender roll, 2 full tubes of each D.

Out of all the rolls very odd I found only 2 quarters that were not either of the 2019.

Edit: When I search boxes of halves and there's a silver ender, I can almost guarantee there are more on the inside.

THat's and odd box composition. I've gotten new mixed with old, but never 2 different new designss, and looks like you have texas missions and wilderness in that box.

now, It would appear to me they did a strong run of quarters and used two different 2019 Ballistic Bags when rolling them there are usually some stragglers left from the last run in the machine that get mixed in, sometimes they have a lot and do a 50/50 run of new and older.

Only you can really tell what they did because the pictures don't tell the roll make up. If they were solid rolls of Texas missions and solid rolls of Wilderness, or the rolls were a mix of the two different types, and then the odd stragglers tossed in there.

If it was a mix of the two designs it is likely they just dumped the end of two different Ballistic Bags to make a run and whatever scrap quarters were laying around.

If it is solid rolls of the two different designs, then it's very likley they did a run and came up short rolls for a box (due to the older quarters mixed in) and they started a new bag of the 2nd design to complete that box out.

It's very interesting to me regardless. Good find, it makes me want to hunt! Thanks for sharing!

are they all the same design for the Ws, or do you have examples of both?

remember gloves and protect them in 2x2s or flips or something, you want them to remain as nice as they look now when they came from the box for the future!

Congrats!

I would also give them an acetone bath before putting them in 2x2's, to remove any oils or grime.

Just went to a diffrent bank and they had an uncirculated box ($500) of 2019 San Antonio Mission quarters. With one ender in the top row as a "W". Guess we will see tonight how many Ws are in there

Yea your probably right as I noticed it was a even split of coins with but with 22 Missions Ws and 1 River Ws. Still not sure how the random 2 coins got in there though.

Just noticed there was a page 2 to the thread sorry for the no reply yesterday.

My theory is the River of no return Ballistic Bag was first and you got the end of that one and why there was only 1 W (could have been zero) they they probably threw in a couple bags of circulated returns from a coin machine and opened the Ballistic Bag of San Antonio which is why you got 22 from a top of the Ballistic Bag dump.

There's not always random coins mixed in but it happens. Some get stuck in the machine or if it jams they clear out whatever and throw it into the mix. It can be dozens even before it jams up and needs to be cleared but they will just toss them back into the machine when they do need to do it.

That's the part I like about whole boxes. Trying to figure out what they did from what I see. And new boxes, even with the mint and trying to identify how many die pairs might be in the box mix buy looking for repeated differences in the coins like small die chips or breaks or small Cuds.

Haven't found a huge Cud yet though..

Congrats on your hunts though. I can't get into a bank to get anything to search and if I did I'd have the same trouble trying to dump it except at a coinstar machine. All the bank lobbies are closed in my area.

I sure hope this mess out here ends soon though. I'd like to hunt again but more importantly Things are gonna get rough the longer this lasts for a lot of people and that's no good for anybody.

Good luck and be blessed.

Why would you get a box of quarters if you did not intend to open them?
As you can tell I'm not a CRH
